A moment to pause and breathe
Hello and welcome back. I am as always grateful to those of you on this journey with me as we look to bring in calm, peace and joy into what can sometimes seem like a chaotic and busy world.
Life can seem quite hectic and busy between work life and family life. When we add in the pressure of ongoing increased financial pressure and events happening on the world stage, it can be very easy to become exhausted and overwhelmed.
Today I simply invite you to take a moment to pause, breathe and be present in the moment. Give yourself a chance to put down the baggage of the past, you can always pick this back up afterwards if you so choose. Take a break from worrying about the future. The energy of worry is not beneficial anyway.
Take several deep conscious breaths in and out. Give yourself this moment to be fully present as you pause. Feel your feet on the ground or the seat beneath you. Listen to the sounds that you can hear. Perhaps there is a bird singing, a clock ticking, a dog barking or just the rustle of the leaves. Are there any smells that you notice, or can you feel a breeze or perhaps the sun on your skin? Pay attention to all your senses as you continue to breathe consciously and deeply.
This simple act can be incredibly powerful and may assist with calming the nervous system, reducing stress, uplifting the mood and aid with clarity. Many people when they do have down time, often fill that space with phones, television and other distractions. A few moments each day to simply be, can create more space for calm, presence and joy.
For the next few weeks if you so choose, allow yourself this gift to pause and breathe each day for even just a few moments. Pay attention to how you feel before and after. Do you notice an improvement in your mood, do you feel the calm and peace sitting there in the background?
You are far more powerful than you have been taught. These moments of pausing, breathing and being present can help us to reconnect with ourselves, which I believe is a nurturing that we all require.
I wish you much love and light and look forward to the next post.
Michelle
